Since I have been working since I was 16 years old, as an office assistant, administrator, bus driver, truck driver, receptionist, shop assistant, sales assistant, tax officer, construction and engineering administrator, project manager, insurance agent, documentation control manager, transcriber and translator, I feel no need to list all these jobs and educations below. My experience is vast, and i am still curious about almost everything in this universe.
I am a Swedish native, grown up in south Sweden and studied and worked in Stockholm. I also have experience to the Swedish spoken in Finland, and I speak or understand seven other European languages - making it easy for me to compare. I also have other non-translation work experience in business, finance, corporate polices and journalism. As my studies range from archaeology to physics, I have a wide range of knowledge that is handy when translating.
I translate both formal and informal text. Formal texts concern often integrity and privacy and other policies. As I have ample of experience with policy writing, I understand the complexity and the need for coherence. I prefer tasks where there is more space to consider as this is one of the best guarantees for a quality work.

My name is Åsa and I'm a freelancer in translation,
editing and localization and very interested in working with
Swedish is my mother tongue, and for the past two years I
have lived and worked in London.
For two years I have worked as a freelancer at Upwork
(formerly oDesk), mainly with data entry, localization and
translation. During this time I have honed several skills,
such as working quickly, accurately and always with the client\'s need in mind. Many
tasks consisted of Swedish localization of English terms,
which has greatly increased my acumen and speed.
Although at university I studied primarily philosophy (but
also history as an undergraduate), I have always had a
strong interest in English language and literature and have
taken every opportunity to pursue this interest; for example during summers in
Edinburgh and London. Spending most of my spare time reading
has also increased my knowledge and understanding of the
English language and how best to translate it.
During my time at Swedish universities much of the teaching
was conducted in English and I wrote virtually every paper
and thesis in the language I love. I also spent an exchange
term at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Former English and Swedish teacher who has been working as a freelance translator and proofreader during the past five years.
Diligent and meticulous, and I never give up in trying to find and give a perfect translation even in areas that I am semi-confident in. You always learn interesting new things when translating.
Experienced, quality oriented translator from English, German, Danish and Norwegian into Swedish. Creative and specialized in e-shopping, e-learning, surveys plus manuals, also translated many cook books and guide books.
Do you need natural-sounding, seamlessly flowing content adapted to a Swedish audience? You're in luck. I have experience translating, localizing and/or copywriting websites, advertisements, CV:s, dictionaries, and texts about history and literature. I have worked with companies within the fields of medicine, IT, e-commerce, tourism, and economy.
I avoid word-for-word translations. Having honed my stylistic chops through studies in Creative Writing and Swedish Literature, I have an ideal skill set for localizing and selling your content to a Swedish target audience. My proficiency in English, Spanish and German is the fruit of my extensive international experience. I have lived for half a year in Ireland, two years in Spain, and I am currently on my fourth year in Germany. I have studied at university level in all four of my languages, earning top grades.
My clients are usually particularly satisfied with my attention to detail. In my translation work, I tend to find things to improve in the source text. All too often, I see otherwise acceptable texts being ruined by poor punctuation, incorrect use of prepositions or imperfect word choices.
When I am not busy perfecting your texts, I am writing my M.A. thesis in Global History at the Free University of Berlin. My studies have given me the opportunity to work with historical sources from a wide range of linguistic contexts. In addition to my main languages, I am happy to translate your French, Portuguese and Italian texts.
