Before starting to work as a translator, I worked for many years in the IT industry, first as a developer and later as project manager. This means I have lots of experience in both areas.
Also, I'm extremely curious and keep reading and taking courses on other subjects to expand my knowledge. As such, other areas where I gained expertise are Behavior Economics, Behavior and Social Psychology.
Commercial/Tech/Humanities - EN/PT/FR
Professional freelance translator and reviewer working from English and French into Brazilian Portuguese, and also from Portuguese into English.
My name is Álvaro Antonio da Luz and I'm a freelance translator and interpreter from Curitiba, Brazil with 9 years' experience across a wide range of fields. I also provide proofreading and DTP services. I have previously worked for 6 years as an EFL teacher, pedagogical consultant and school manager.
I have always had a deep curiosity of foreign languages and their cultures. Being an avid reader from early childhood, I left my musical aspirations aside (I also played the piano from early on) to pursue a college degree in English.
Nowadays I balance my careers as a translator/interpreter and as a music and theatre producer in a theatre company in Curitiba.

Nice to meet you. My name is Adriano Silva and I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I have been working with English-Portuguese translations since 2007. Previously, I worked on several advertising agencies as a copywriter/proofreader/translator. I consider this my main competitive edge: being able to master my native tongue and delivering an impeccable work (style- and grammar-wise).
A couple of years ago, I decided to become a full time remote translator.
Today, I mostly work on Upwork/People Per Hour. Those are both my main workplaces.
My top rated profile and comprehensive portfolio: https://www.upwork.com/fl/adrianosilva
I am 100% committed to my clients. Anything less than full and complete customer satisfaction is unacceptable. Looking forward to collaborating with you.
My experience as a translator ranges from technical documents to entertainment texts. I am a Law Bachelor and I have worked as a tax advisor, writing and proofreading documents in both English and Portuguese as daily jobs. I worked also on the Brazilian localization of EA’s FIFA 18 and Need for Speed Payback. My job was to ensure all texts and audio were properly translated for the Brazilian market, checking if these assets were correctly implemented in-game and that they fitted the game style and natural flow of the language. Such experience lit my desire of building bridges between different cultures and breaking down the language barriers between them. In my case, Portuguese is spoken by more than 255 million people, of which 210 million are Brazilians alone. However, the majority of the lusophone population has no understanding of the English language, and English speakers too have generally no knowledge of Portuguese. This is an obstacle I want to help undo.

I am an English to Brazilian Portuguese translator, specialized in localization, who also offers transcription services. My mission is to fully meet my clients’ expectations, from beginning to end of the working process.
I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, fluent in English and French and with a conversational level of German. I have an IELTS Academic Certificate and I'm currently ranked 1st out of over 12.600 test takers by the UPWORK - English To Brazilian Portuguese Translation Skill Test.
All my translations are made manually (yes, no use of Google Translator or anything like that). Instead, I use professional computer-assisted translation tools like Trados, Wordfast, OmegaT and SmartCAT that provide quality assurance, terminology consistency, spell checking and more for your project.
I've worked with translations of documents and academic papers. Today, I still do them and rewiews of texts and essays both in Portuguese and English, translation and transcription of English audios, and digital subtitle of movies/series too. I always work within the deadline and, I have a personal contract of labor that helps both sides. I'm working on a third language so, soon enough, I hope to upgrade my profile here.
I am both a Business Management and a Social Communication Bachelor, which I believe is a great advantage for understanding the corporative universe and advertisement industry. For that reason, I have knowledge of the specific vocabulary involving management, HR, finance, marketing, advertisement and so on. Besides that, I teach English to lawyers, accountants, admen and managers in Brazil as a private teacher, not only having to prepare specific classes, but also having to edit and proofread their emails and reports. Additionally, I have translated hospitality information and tour guides for a travel company. Given the growing exchange between countries, it is fundamental that services and products are accessible to an ever-wider number of people. I am interested in making all kinds of media more accessible to the general public, especially in places like Brazil, where few people speak English, although it is a widely spoken language.

Hello! I am a Brazilian freelance translator/localizer (English/Portuguese-BR) and proofreader (Portuguese-BR). I have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, a Postgraduate's degree in Editorial Projects and a Master's degree in Literary and Cultural Studies.
I have graduated from one of the top 5 universities in Brazil and I have just concluded my Masters in the best university of Portugal (according to the QS World University Rankings).
I have been providing translation services for 5 years and since the end of 2017 I have been working as a full time freelance translator. I also have experience in proofreading (Portuguese-BR), subtitling and in English tutoring. I have been studying English for 20 years and I hold a Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) certificate.
I have gotten a bachelor degree in Economics back in 2012, and have been working as a civil servant for the city of São Paulo since 2008. As I have always been interested in foreign languages, especially English and French, I decided to specialize in Language Translation a couple of years ago. As of 2016, I have been working on English-Portuguese translation projects as a freelancer.
I'm a Brazilian translator fluent in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish and English. I have lived and worked at Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Spain, England and the USA and I have a deep level of fluency in the languages I work with.
I have been working as a freelance translator since 2009 and I'm currently a member of Freelancer's Preferred Freelancer program as one of the most recognized and skilled Freelancers worldwide. I'm also a member of Sintra and Abrates, the Brazilian syndicates for translators, which allows me to provide translation services legally.
I have studied multiple fields and worked as a business analyst, which gives me a better grasp of the use of specific sentences and expressions than a translator with a purely theoretical knowledge. I also understand well the use of idiomatic expressions and technical terms, which gives me an edge when handling translations with uncommon terms.
My name is Matheus Mattos, I am an English to Portuguese (Brazilian native) professional freelance translator.
BA in Modern Languages (Portuguese and English) from USP - University of São Paulo.

I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker and a professional translator working with the pair English and Portuguese, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Translation at University of Brasília, Brazil. I'm also an English teacher. Currently, I work as a freelance translator, having translated academic texts of various fields, such as veterinary medicine, economics, education, business, dentistry, physiotherapy, among others.
I have three years of experience in literary translations and five years in subtitling.
I have a degree in Law and another in History and I am currently a researcher in the area of Cinema, History and Media. I believe I can understand specific legal terms as well as terms related to the media universe.
Moreover, within the religious scope, I have had experience with theological texts for at least ten years. My specialties are Missiology, Eschatology and Christian Apologetics. I have worked on the version of songs and pieces. I am not fluent in Greek, Aramaic or Latin, but I have good notions of the three languages within the theological sphere, and I search very carefully for translation debates consistent with the current thinking of the Christian Church (both Protestant and Catholic).
I am a Brazilian Portuguese Language Specialist working in this area since 2007 and graduated in Portuguese Languages & Literatures and specialized in English Translation.
My fields of expertise are the following: audiovisual translation; website, games, apps and software localization; marketing & media/multimedia; oil & gas; telecommunication; energy, power generation, environment & ecology; cinema & television and IT/Computers(Hardware & Software).
I "started" translating in 2005 when I was a teenager. I had a Brazilian forum about a Korean singer and most of the news we've got were in English. I translated all the English news we could find into Portuguese so our friends and visitors could read too.
In 2009 I got into Languages course in college, thinking in becoming a literary translator since I really love to read. I translated short stories, ended up learning how to subtitle, all to family and friends.
Late in 2015, I started my specialization in English - Portuguese translation where I've learned a lot about this amazing career. In 2016 I got my first paid jobs in translation and I've joined Babelcube, Coursera, and TedTalks to improve my skills.
Today, I translate more technical texts than literature. But I can't say it isn't amazing. I've learned so many new things, and so much about myself in the process that I must say it is a win-win situation.
