I started translating and consecutive interpreting while at university and kept on doing this on an "as needed" basis during my professional life. Now, as I am retired, I have been keeping on with translations and interpretations on a freelance basis.
I grew up in Germany and have visited my huge American family in the US State Ohio every year for a month, give or take. I have been fluent in English since 1989.
I have worked for a medical device producer for over a total of 3 years, translating regulations and processes required by the ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820. I have spent a month going over the new MDSAP guideline.
I studied the subjects German and English to teach it at the Gymnasium, which is the equivalent to an academic high school. I will go back to teaching in February, but since I miss working with languages in a more direct way, I want to keep translating different projects.
I am also a major modern literature fan and would not mind translating (short) stories, either.
My areas of expertise include: Amazon and eBay, IT, Software and Technical documents, Marketing, Sales, Business, Apps, Tourism and Novels.
I copyedit and proofread every translation, which results in clean, accurate final results.
Word choice matters, especially when needing to communicate the right tone and messaging. This is where I, as a native German speaker, truly shine. I know how to take a message and convey it thoughtfully.
I have been working as a translator for a number of international agencies and online platforms for about 5 years now. In addition, I have been working as a teacher of French, English and German for about 12 years, preparing students for their A-Levels (Abitur in Germany). I hold an M.A. in English, French and Literature and completed my studies at the University of Osnabrück in December 2011. During my studies, I spent two academic years abroad, namely in Angers (France) and in Montréal (Québec, Canada) and have been to the US a number of times over the years as well.
Starting out as an interpreter for a local translation agency in 2013, I have been expanding my collaboration with a number of international agencies and online platforms. Among the many clients I did translation jobs for via numerous agencies are companies such as Amazon, Google, Skyscanner, Bodum, Musement,... to name just a few, not to mention countless smaller companies from all over the world.
