Having obtained my PhD in 2005 (Humanities), I started translating in 2008. The language combinations I work in are English, French and German into Dutch. During the years I have built up experience in cultural and general texts and, more recently, in marketing and retail. The latter is mainly due to an increase of job offers in this field, and to my own choice professionalising in this domain.
In 2008 I received my first small retail assignments for companies like GoPro and Bosch (Isotranslations). I started to develop and train my ability to translate into accessible and attractive Dutch. Since 2014, I have been doing considerable amounts of post-editing in the field of marketing / retail for Straker Translations. I have translated e-commerce related marketing for Lionbridge as well, and different kind of household, kitchen and applied sciences related items. Since March 2016 I am working nearly fulltime for Amazon, translating product descriptions from German into Dutch on a weekly basis (please see portfolio).
Besides this, I have also obtained experience in Dutch and English transcriptions. I have done transcriptions for Appen (Butler Hill) in 2010 and afterwards QA of others' transcriptions. In 2015 I have done considerable amounts of Dutch transcriptions for Language Insight, using a multitude of editing symbols. Sporadically, I took on transcription jobs from the Dutch company TranscriptieSpecialist.
